3 June 2003        (Usual bullshit: dead father, loads of dollars, etc, etc)

From: NELSON BROWN (JNR)
ATTN: President /CEO
Subject: Urgent Assistance

PERSONAL MEMO

Sir,

Permit me to inform you of my desire of going into business relationship with you .I am NELSON MEE
BROWN (JNR), The first son of late Mr. and Mrs. MORGAN MEE BROWN. My father was a very
wealthy GOLD AND COCOA merchant in Congo republic. His business associate on one of their
business outing poisoned him to death. When my mother died on the 21ST October 1994, my father
took my brother and me so special because we were motherless, Before the death of my father on
the 29th November 2000 in a private hospital here in Nigeria, He sincerely called me on his bed side
and told me that he had a sum of $35,600,000 US DOLLARS (THIRTY FIVE MILLION SIX HUNDRED
THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS) kept in a security company in SOUTH AFRICA. He also
used my Mother's name and my name to deposit the money as his first son as next of kin. He also
explained to me that it was because of this wealth that he was poisoned by his business associates,
that I should seek for a foreign partner in a country of my choice where I will transfer this money and use
it for investment purposes, I want you to assist me in clearing this fund into any safe account overseas
as a beneficiary of the fund, and also see it for investment purpose, such as real estate management.
My interested areas of investment are: REAL ESTATE, HOTELS, and PETROLEUM INDUSTRY.
I am honorably seeking for your assistance in the following ways.

(1) To assist me to clear this fund from the security company and transfer to a safe nominated account
successfully.

(2) To serve as the guardian of this fund since I am still a young man of 26yrs.

(3) To make arrangement for me to come over to your country for the completion of my education and to
secure a residential permit in your country.

Moreover, I am willing to offer you some part of the total sum as compensation for your effort and input
after the successful transfer of this fund to the nominated account. Furthermore, this transaction can be
concluded within 14 days, from the day you signify interest to assist me. Waiting to hear from you soonest.
Please reach me through my email address at: brown_nelson6@hotmail.com

Meanwhile in the meantime I must implore you to keep this matter highly reticent pending the actualization
of the fund transfer.

Thanks and God bless you for your anticipated cooperation.

Best Regard

NELSON BROWN (Jnr)

Dear Nelson
I've just come back from a business trip and found your message.
Could you answer some questions for me please.
1    How did you get my e-mail address?
2    How did you know that I am in the real estate business?
3    If I agree to assist you what percentage of the $35.6million will you offer me?
Please answer the above before we go any further.
Regards
H. Janus

8 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,
(I LOVE this name -Can you just imagine Sean Connery saying "The name's Janush, Hugh Janush))

Welcome back from your business trip and thank you for your prompt response to my mail. I will go
straight to the point in explaining some facts to you about the information you requested. After I
confided my predicament with a friend who works with the British Caledonian Airways, you were
recommended as reliable and financially proficient in carrying out the requirements in effecting the
transfer of this fund from the security company in South Africa to any nominated account.
Furthermore, I saw your profile in the British Chamber of Commerce
and appreciated the
profile status because it reflects the exact need which I am concerned with. The issue of sharing
pattern at the successful clearance and transfer of my fund into any safe and nominated account of
your choice will poise no problems between us. As a matter of importance, I strongly suggest that
we do such a negotiation on the phone because writing emails is a one-sided affair and what I have
in mind might not be too clear to you at first until series of mails are exchanged. This is why I feel we
should talk on the phone where we can have detailed discussion on the modalities of carrying out
this transaction. Since I am requesting your assistance in this transaction, I will be very lenient and
open to such negotiation so that you can entertain the liberty of doing this for me. My land telephone
number is: 234-48-551692 while my mobile telephone number is: 234-90-509357 and you can feel
free to call me anytime so that we can further negotiate the compensation for assisting me in this
very transaction before we can discuss how to invest the fund in your field of business after the successful
transfer is effected. I will also need you to send me your most current telephone and fax numbers because
we will require to be in constant communication throughout the period of this transfer

As soon as I receive a positive confirmatory message from you either through email or by phone, I will
introduce you to my attorney who will in turn furnish you with more professional information about the
present status of the consignment in South Africa, the requirements and what could be done to carry
out this transaction successfully.

I expect to hear from you urgently so that we can proceed further.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

Hmm. British Caledonian Airways ceased to function under that name in 1988 when it was taken over by BA.
I also really doubt his claim that he found an entry for Hugh Janus in a Chamber of Commerce publication.
Glad to see he hasn't forgotten the "modalities"

8 June 2003

Dear Nelson
I'd love to call you on the phone - at the moment I'd love to speak to anyone on the phone - but 2 weeks ago
I developed a condition called Tinnitus - have you heard of it? It is a persistent ringing in the eardrum and it
varies from case to case apparently but with me it's all the time and very loud. The doctor has given me
some medication and says it should clear up in 2 to 3 weeks but it's a big nuisance. I can just about carry on a
normal conversation face to face with someone but telephone conversations are absolutely impossible -
I think the telephone receiver magnifies the ringing noise.
Anyway I'm still able to function and type e-mails so I'm prepared to go further if you are.
What percentage would be mine for helping you out?
Regards
H Janus

9 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

Sorry to hear about your defficiency. I asked my attorney about the percentage issue and he explained that
if your participation is reasonable enough both by physical presence and financial involvement, that I could go
as far as compensating you with a minimum of 20% of the fund which is roughly US$7million and that should
be deducted as soon as you have the funds transfered into a safe account. You may wish to be informed that
any expense made in the course of this transaction by you or me must be refunded from the total fund before
any sharing will commence.

Since we cannot discuss on the phone at this time because of your handicap, I expect you to confirm through
email and tell me if we agree on the percentage of sharing that I have proposed and if my attorney should go
ahead and arrange for the necessary instructions to the security company.
Where would be more convenient for you to sign out the consignment; South Africa or Holland? My attorney
has friends and coleagues in Holland who might be useful in procuring necessary Financial Certificates which
we will require for the deposition of the fund in a bank before we can effect the transfer.

So far, I have explained the important aspects to you so that if you are ready for us to proceed I can
communicate with my attorney and introduce you to him and everything will be in place within the shortest
possible time.

I await to hear from you urgently.

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

10 June 2003

Dear Nelson
20% will be fine.
Please arrange for your lawyer to start all the necessary documentation.
For my part, although I would love to go to South Africa I'm afraid that I can't spare the time right now
so Holland would be more convenient to receive the consignment - it's only about an hour's flight from the UK.
Regards
H Janus

10 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

Since we have finally arrived at all required compromises I now request you to forward me your secure
and personal fax number so that I can send you documents through fax. Also, my attorney will need to
have your telephone and fax numbers as part of the requirements which the security company will need
to communicate with you and notify you of your travel arrangements to Holland.

My attorney has now been notified of your intention to travel to Holland and he has started making
necessary contacts with the security company in South Africa to instruct them to deliver the consignment
to Amsterdam-Holland.

I await the telephone and fax numbers so that we may proceed.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

10 June 2003

Dear Nelson
Tel / Fax:- 01xxx-xxxxxx
Look forward to receiving the documents.
Regards
H Janus

12 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

Thank you for your immediate response. I have already sent everything to my attorney and he will contact
and instruct the security company promptly.

You will get further information from my attorney or the security company shortly. Please, always remember
to reach me with necessary informations of your activities with them as the security company might deal
directly with you once a change of beneficiary is effected in your favor.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

12 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

I just communicated with my attorney and something else is very important before you travel. He insists
that you must send a scanned copy of your passport which is required for a change of beneficiary to be
made from my name to your name.
This he says is one of the requirements which will be attached to the
consignment so that you can have privy and access to the consignment even if I am not there with you.
You will be given a 'Power of Attorney' status to act for and on my behalf in Holland.

For this reason, we will need to swear an affidavit in the Federal High Court of South Africa which is in
Gautteng-Johannesburg and will require that my attorney should travel to South Africa and effect it physically.
From his estimate, my attorney requires the sum of US$7,360 (Seven Thousand, Three Hundred and Sixty
United States Dollars Only) to embark on his journey to South Africa. He says the US$4,360 will be for his
travel expenses and US$3,000 will be to effect the necessary changes. I now plead with you for some
financial assistance because I would not know how to raise this sum right now. If you can assist me in
offsetting this charge, every money you spend in the transaction will be duly refunded at the completion of
our transfer process. If only I could have called you to explain this beter to you that could have been much
better but because of your handicap at the moment I'm sorry you'll have to try and understand that this little
situation should not keep the transaction slowed down.

When sending the fund, you may send it to me through Western Union Money Transfer. Let me provide you
with my contact particulars and once you send the money, you should write me with the particuars that you
sent it with. My contact particulars are as follows:

Name: Nelson Brown (Jnr)
Address: #114, Rumuibekwe Road, Off Artilliery Junction
City:        Port Harcourt
State:     Rivers State
Country:  Nigeria
Country Zip Code: 234

As soon as you send the money, please write and tell me the control number of the transfer and other particulars
so that I can collect it and send to my attorney and he will move immediately to effect all necessary changes.
According to him, he will only need to spend two to three days in South Africa to get all necessary paper works
in place and prepare you for your trip to Holland.

Also, I want you to remember that soon after we complete the transfer the fund into your nominated account, you
will help me relocate to wherever you will want me to invest my fund.

I expect an urgent and positive response so that we may proceed immediately.

Thanks for all your assistance.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)     (was this the result of scammers turning up at Schiphol to find no-one?)

13 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

Now, what is the cause for this sudden silence and delay in our transaction?
The least you could have done is to tell me the situation on your part because I am terribly confused at
your silence. I know you to be very prompt in responding to emails and I have waited for three days now
without hearing anything from you.

Please, open up and tell me what the problem is. This type of situation calls for a phone cal but you keep
telling me about Tympanum defect. My friend suggested that since you can discuss with people face to face,
then your problem is only agrievated when the ear-piece gets too close to your ear. That means we can
discuss if you use a speaker-phone. This way, you don't have to place the handset on your ear. If you can
possibly do call me anytime you receive this mail on either 234-48-551692 or 234-90-509357 and I will be
expecting that we can discuss.

I have somehow come up with part of the required fund to sponsor my attorney to South Africa to effect the
changes in your favor but the fund is not yet complete and they also need the scanned copy which will be
attached to the document. This is the only delay we are being faced with.

If you do not reply quickly, I will have to find a means of calling you ont the phone. Is your full telephone number
+44-01xxx-xxxxxx. If so, please confirm so that I do not waste the little resource I have for nothing. If on
the other hand, you can call me immediately you receive this mail then I would appreciate it more because we
really have to hurry up in order to complete all necessary paper works and you can leave for Holland soon
enough.

I am expecting your urgent response to this very important message.

Thanks for everything and please do not relent because your effort and the compensation will be worth every bit
of input. I assure you and I am looking forward to meeting you very soon too.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

15 June 2003     (Let's make him spend a little effort)

Dear Nelson

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My computer crashed a few days ago and I had to give it to a
friend to repair who's just brought it back. It's a real nuisance being without a pc, especially at the moment
as the tinnitus is still with me. I'm afraid your friend's diagnosis is incorrect - I've tried with speakerphones
but that seems to aggravate the problem - according to the doctors there are about 6 different forms of
tinnitus and they all have different effects - apparently mine is quite severe, although treatable.

Nelson you are asking for me to send you $7,360 by Western Union and normally I'm a trusting sort of
chap but you must admit that that is taking trust a little bit too far. I have no proof that there is $35.6million
being held by any security company and on the basis of 5 or 6 e-mails I think you're expecting a lot from
me on trust.

Can you provide any evidence to me that there is indeed that amount of money being held for you? If you
can provide me with satisfactory evidence I will of course forward the money in order to speed up the finalisation.

H Janus

16 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

Thank you very much for your explanations for the delayed response. I had been very worried
and I just couldn't imagine what caused you not to respond before now. I quite understand your
explanation and it's okay because it happens to me too sometimes.

I will give you any proof you need to show that I really and honestly have a legacy of US$35.6m
deposited in the First Century Security Company Pty in Johannesburg South Africa and presently
on request has been duly delivered to Amsterdam-Holland.

First proof is that I need a complete fax number which you had already sent to me but forgot to add
your country code so that I can send to you via fax, documents like my father's Death Certificate, his
Last Will, the Letter of Authorization to the Security Company in South Africa where the fund was
initially deposited and telling them to transfer ownership from my father's name to mine. I also have
in my possession, the original copies of the deposit documents including the necessary certificates
issued on the deposition of the fund. You must however note that according to my attorney, I am not
supposed to send you the transaction documents which were issued by the security company
because they contain the security access codes and reference deposit numbers of the
consignment which only the owner of the consignment is supposed to have. I am advised to hand
over the documents to you only after we must have agreed to do the transaction together so that the
information will not be wasted. Once an agreement is made and you accept to assist me on the
conditions given, we may then proceed with further exchange of documents.

Second proof is for you to verify from the security company. Now that the security company in South
Africa has transferred the fund to Holland at our request, I will ask my attorney to secure and send me
the contact telephone and fax number of the Holland branch office where the fund is presently
situated so that you can communicate them either through fax or phone and make discrete enquiries
on the existence of such consignment in their vaults. You will also enquire the true ownership of the
consignment and the value of the deposited items. Once you can get this clarification, I expect
you to hurry up and let us proceed with the transaction proper so that much demurrage will not be
incurred at the Holland branch office.

Please, respond quickly as we have spent much time already. I await an urgent reply so that I may
send you the required proofs. As for the US$7,360, I suggest you start making the arrangement for
sending it because my proof is authentic as well as the existence of my legacy lodged in the vaults
of the security company in Holland.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

16 June 2003
Dear Nelson

Thanks. I really would feel a little more comfortable with a little evidence of your fund.

You can either e-mail me the documentation or fax it.

The fax number is 01xxx-xxxxxx. I think from overseas it will be 44-1xxx-xxxxxx.

Perhaps you can also forward me the e-mail address of the security company in Holland.

H Janus

16 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

As part of my effort to clear the doubts of the existence of me and my fund, I have decided to start
sending you some of the available particulars. I am by this mail sending you my present medical
school identification card because my passport is undergoing a renewal process back in my country
(Congo-Brazzaville also in West Africa) and I don't know when it will be completed. I am also attaching
copies of my guardian's passport. He is Dr.Kenneth Bryan and presently the medical director of my
department in the school. He has been of invaluable help to my family in the past and present.
He was instrumental in the struggle to help my late father survive the poisoning when he laid in the
hospital. Even though all the efforts were lost to nothing, I still respect him for that and I will forever
remember his input and in the future I will do something for him to recognize my appreciation.

I have also put in the first two pages of my father's last will. This is for you to see that there are other
things my late father left for us his children but the most important to me now is the devise of the deposited
fund in the security company which I am supposed to get a foreign assistance to secure from the security
comany and deposit in a bank. I have nothing else to do for my late father than to invest this fund very well
in a moving business transaction and that is why I have come to your aid.

I will be sending the other two pages in a different mail and I hope it would not close your mail box because
of the weight.

Finally, the email address I got from my attorney for the security company's Holland office is:
fcsp_enquiries@europe.com and you may feel free to do the clarifications with them. What I cannot say at
this time is whether they will gladly entertain your questions since you do not have any deposit with them until I
issue you with a 'Power of Attorney' to make you have privy of the transaction.

Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

16 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

Please, find attached the page 3 of my father's last will. I will send the last page immediately because
I cannot upload these two at the same time
because of their weight.

Nelson

June 16 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

This is the last and concluding page of my father's last will. I am attaching all these documents just to
let you know that I am entering an authentic transaction with you and I do not want you to entertain any
doubts again.

I expect you now to conclude whatever enquiries you intend to and which I do not deem as necessary
aymore because time is no more on our side since they have already moved the consignment from
South Africa to Holland and all we are expected to do is for you to go and sign out the consignment in
cash. My attorney will definitely be there to assist in all the necessary banking transactions to ensure a
very smooth deposition into a fresh account and for subsequent transfer into your nominated account
from where we will establish an investment account for the fund.

Remember that this transaction can only fully be appreciated when I formally go into a legal agreement
with you and also issue you with a 'Power of Attorney' which my attorney will prepare and you can use it
to operate any form of transaction with the security company and the banks for and on my behalf without
any questions from the concerned offices.

If you will agree with me, I think it would be wise if you could start making the arrangement to send me
the fund for my attorney to travel to Johannesburg-South Africa for the swearing of the affidavit in the Federal
High Court of South Africa stating the change of beneficiary/ownership status of the fund so that you can
immediately travel for the conclusion of the transaction in Holland.

I await your urgent and positive response so that we can move ahead with the other more vital aspects of the
transaction.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (jnr)

17 June 2003 (to Security Company in Holland)

Dear Sirs
I have been given permission by Mr Nelson Idris Brown (Jr) to contact you regarding a consignment which
has been forwarded to you by First Century Security Company Pty in Johannesburg South Africa .
Could you please confirm that you are holding this consignment and also what the nature of the consignment is.
Please feel free to check with Mr Brown before replying to me.

Yours

H Janus

17 June 2003

Dear Nelson
Thanks for all the documentation.

I have also sent an e-mail to the security company in Holland (see below)

"Dear Sirs
I have been given permission by Mr Nelson Idris Brown (Jr) to contact you regarding a consignment which
has been forwarded to you by First Century Security Company Pty in Johannesburg South Africa .
Could you please confirm that you are holding this consignment and also what the nature of the consignment
is.
Please feel free to check with Mr Brown before replying to me."

I'll get back to you as soon as I have an answer.

H Janus

17 June 2003

Dear H. Janus,

We are very sorry for the slight delay in responding to your enquiry. It is our custom to clarify with our clients/customers before we disclose information regarding our clients and their deposited items. However,
we also reserve the right to secure and hold back information regarding our clients/ customers privacy
contents pending verification of their relationship with you. This is for security reasons. We however had to
check out with Mr. Brown immediately about you and your enquiries and he has confirmed that you are his
next of kin and we can be obliged to releasing only a few information regarding our client to you for security
reasons.

The only information we may duly release to you at this time is that this security finance and deposit company
is aware Mr. Morgan Mee Brown who is our original customer made a very valuable lodgment in our South
African branch office and we also received information that the customer died sometime in 2000. Now, the
next of kin being the son and by name Mr. Nelson Idris Mee Brown (Jnr) stands to claim and collect the father's lodgment. We have since effected the instructions from their attorney Barr. Muhammadu Usman Bello to change beneficiary to Mr. Nelson Idris Mee Brown (Jnr) who has the right to collect or assign any other person for the collection of his consignment. Following a recent instruction by his attorney, the consignment has recently been delivered to this corporate office from our South African office and we now hold the consignment in one of our vaults pending collection.

I am sorry we have limitations on revealing the actual contents of our clients' baggage to unknown people unless otherwise instructed by our client in writing to this office. Please, be informed that our client has a consignment worth over US$35,600,000.00 (Thirty-Five Million Six Hundred Thousand United States Dollars Only) in one of our security vaults here but we cannot disclose the nature of the valued items to you for security reasons. Please, secure a written permission from him and duly endorsed by his attorney before we can proceed with further information.

Hoping that your enquiries have been adequately responded to, we sincerely thank you for your correspondence to our Amsterdam-Holland branch of  First Century Security Company Pty

Please, do not hesitate to send us your telephone and fax numbers so that we can reach you and send further information concerning our services and operations.

Thank you.
Yours In Service,

Phillip Levinus (P.R.O. Executive)

18 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

I received a telephone call from the First Century Security Company branch of Holland yesterday and they were asking questions very sternly about you.
I told them that you were my next-of-kin and also a business partner. I let them know that you were only recently employed to assist in all my financial matters and that you were free to do business with them on my behalf and they should tell you whatever you wanted to know. My problem now is that I am taking a chance with you as it is because I don't know if you can really afford to assist me. I promise that if you can do the much you can to get the consignment cleared and lodged into an account in Europe we will be very much better off and you will definitely be the person to manage my multi-national business enterprise.

Please, let us hurry up because according to my attorney, if the consignment remains in Holland for more than a week, they will start charging for demurrage and other costs which we do not anticipate. I hope you can get your reply on time from the company and get back to me with the US$7,360 on time so that we can round this transaction quickly and get back to the investment aspect which is more universal and that is where I am mainly concerned with. I also need to travel to my country Congo-Brazzaville to collect some very vital items and my attorney insists that those documents must be brought down here and used to fill in some signing out forms when you get to Holland.

If you feel you might not have the financial muscles to carry this transaction through I would like to know because I can ask my attorney to secure a financier or investor for this transaction but that will greatly affect our total sum because we will have to include the financiers in our sharing percentage and that will affect our total sharing sum. Please, tell me to what extent you can be financially involved until we sign out the money because I can assure you that as soon as the fund is signed out in cash from the security company, you may be allowed to remove some of the cash in order to continue with expenses of depositing the money in the bank and other expnses that require large amounts. You may be allowed to remove between US$300-500,000 from the money and nothing more so that there will be no confusion when it comes to accounting for the expenses incured and the final sharing of funds.

Finally, I want warn you that even though you are doing the right thing by checking my fund out, I still think we are wasting unnecessary time because I gave you my assurance that my fund exists an the company and it is in my name which I will give you a 'Power of Attorney' to operate for and on my behalf in every aspect of this
transaction. After this transaction, I have other propositions for you because my father was a very wealthy man and a multi-millionaire and I am the apparent heir because of my position in the family. There are some other aspects of the family business which I will involve you with whenever we get through with this.

Hurry up and get back to me with my expected good news so that we may proceed in all trust and confidence.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (jnr)

18 June 2003
Dear Nelson

Thanks for your e-mail and also authorising First Century to send me the details.

I am quite happy now that everything is as you said but you will understand my caution.

Unfortunately tomorrow I have to entertain an important client of mine and that will be during most of the day.
(He is very fond of the local ale at our pub, The Three Feathers, so I can see me spending a long lunch with
him there.)

So I won't be able to do anything about the transfer by Western Union until Friday morning as the nearest
office of WU is about half an hour from here.

Please confirm before then that the details I have are correct:-

 Name:         Nelson Brown (Jnr)
Address:     114, Rumuibekwe Road, Off Artilliery Junction
City:            Port Harcourt
State:          Rivers State
Country:      Nigeria

I fully anticipate that I will have transferred the $7,360 to you by 10.00am on Friday. I have never dealt with
Western Union before; does it take long for the transfer?

Please confirm that the above details are correct before Friday morning.

Regards

H Janus

18 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

I am happy with your satisfaction about my legitimacy. (No- I still think he's a thieving bastard)
I hereby confirm the particulars for you to send me the fund as you rightly wrote:

Name:         Nelson Brown (Jnr)
Address:     114, Rumuibekwe Road, Off Artilliery Junction
City:            Port Harcourt
State:          Rivers State
Country:      Nigeria
Country Zip Code: 234

The Western Union Money Transfer does not take too long to operate. When you get to their office,
they will simply give you a form to fill the above information. They will give you a control number
which you will send to me through email or fax: 234-9-2726233 or both. In the message, you will inform
me of the test question which I will be asked at the collection centre and the test answer.
With the above particulars, the test question and answer and the control number, you should be able to
send the money successfully and I will receive it. From there, my attorney will arrange to fly immediately
to S.A to complete the legal documents.

Awaiting your necessary actions.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

20 June 2003               (Nelson becomes demanding)

Dear Hugh Janus,

Just to let you know that I expect you to send in the money on time and to write me an email as soon as
you pay it in. If you can, please send the information through my fax 234-9-272-6233 as well for surety.

I will inform you through email as soon as I receive it.

Thank you for everything.

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

21 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

What happened? I waited all day to receive your email and fax yesterday telling me that you had put in
the money and the particulars of the deposit but I have not heard from you up till now. I hope there is no
problem?

Please, send the money and let me know for further actions.

Awaiting your reaction.

Nelson Brown (Jnr)

21 June 2003

Dear Hugh Janus,

I just remembered that scanned copies of your passport/drivers' license should be forwarded along with all necessary contact particulars for the preparation of all necessary documents like the change of
beneficiary/ownership and Power of Attorney rights which should be signed to enable you act for and on my
behalf in every aspect of the transaction.

Dear Mr Brown
I'm Mr Janus' office manager. I'm sorry I don't know what you are referring to so you will have to wait until
Mr Janus returns to the office.

Unfortunately Mr Janus had an accident on Thursday when returning from lunch with one of our clients
and has been in hospital since then. (yesterday’s local newspaper cutting attached)

However, I am glad to tell you that he is expected to be released from hospital this afternoon, having
made a good recovery.

I am anticipating that he will be back in the office on Monday morning and will let him know that you have
been enquiring after him.

Yours sincerely

Hello Penelope Dipwick (Office Manager)

I am so terribly sorry to hear about the accident that befell such a good man as Mr. Hugh Janus. Kindly help
me tell him that I am wishing him a complete recovery as anticipated by the doctors.

Also, let him write me soon as he gets back on Monday so that I can extend my sympathy greeting more
directly and personally.

Thank you for notifying me of the accident.

Nelson

Well I'm back in the land of the living. Surprisingly I don't feel too bad - just left with some bruising.
The doctors were worried about my concussion - that's why they kept me in. It's only in this small village
that an accident like that could happen - not many people come across ponies and traps in larger towns
and cities. I must say I didn't realise what was happening until my leg got pulled from under me as the
rein caught it. Then I was dragged quite a way along the road until the pony eventually came to a halt.
It could have been a lot worse so I'm grateful that there was no other traffic around that I could have
been dragged into.

Anyway as you can guess I wasn't able to make the Western Union office on Friday so I'm going to
go later this afternoon just before it closes. I'll send you the details afterwards.

Thanks for your good wishes.

H Janus

Dear Hugh Janus,

I just returned to the house and checked my mail. I can't tell you how happy I felt when I read your email
and knowing that you're back and very healthy again. I was worried about you y'know? Now, I don't
want you walking around like that again because I can't afford to lose you or hear that you got hurt
again. Right now, you are my concern and I have to care about you as much as you should care
about me. I hope you didn't dislocate your ankle or have any compound fracture? Thank you for
telling me in your own very words exactly how it all happened with the pony. Like you rightly said,
it doesn't happen that way everywhere, like they don't have ponies here and depend strictly on
cars and other machinary vehicles. The bruises are minor skin fracture and they will heal up in no
time at all.

I will have to remain at home and be checking my mail and fax until I receive the details of your sending
the money.

Thank you for everything and welcome back.

Fax received at 10.00am - It looks like the money never arrived (How strange)

24 June 2003            (11.53am)

Hello Mr. Hugh Janus,

I believe there's been a terrible mistake somewhere. The fund your manager gave me particulars to claim
at the Wesern Union office here has not been deposited from your end. I don't know why there is a
discrepancy in the transfer. While your man gave me the refence particulars to claim the money, the bank
here checked their computers and find nothing deposited in my name.
I have already wrriten a fax to you on this note.

Please, I expect you to check immediately at your end of the Western Union office if they had concluded
the transfer process yesterday and confirm for me the exact particulars used in making the deposition
because if there is a typographic error, the computer will not identify the sender or receipient so it is
very necessary to do a cross check on the particulars before I go there again.

I await your immediate response so that I may go back and collect the fund.
My attorney is around too and is expected to leave as soon as the fund arrives.

Best Regards,

Nelson Brown I. (Jnr)
