 With good faith i have come to you on this proposal which i feel you are liable of handling, and firstly i must introduce myself, I am Lucky Garbi, the first son and manager of Mr. Garbi Thembe, one of the most popular black farmers in Zimbabwe who was recently murdered in the land dispute in my country.

I got your contact through network online hence decided to write you, Before the death of my father, he took me to Johannesburg to deposit the sum of US5.8 million (Five million, Eight Hundred thousand United States dollars), in one of the private security company, as he foresaw the looming danger in Zimbabwe, this money was deposited in a box as family valuables to avoid much demurrage from security company. This amount was meant for the purchase of new machines and chemicals for a new  Farm establishment  in Swaziland.
 
 This land problem came when Zimbabwean President Mr.Robert Mugabe introduced a new Land Reform Act wholly affecting the rich white farmers and some few black farmers, and this resulted to the killing and mobbing by Zimbabwean war veterans and some lunatics in the society. In fact a lot of people were killed because of this Land reform Act of which my father was one of the victims.
 
It is against this background that, my family and I fled Zimbabwe for fear of our lives and are currently staying in the Netherlands where we are seeking political asylum and more so have decided to transfer my father's fund to a more reliable foreign account, Since the law of Netherlands prohibits a refugee (asylum seeker) to open any bank account or to be involved in any financial transaction throughout the
Territorial zone of Netherlands.
    
As the eldest son of my father, I am saddled with the responsibility of seeking a genuine foreign account where this money could be transferred without the knowledge of my government who are bent on taking everything we have got. Since the  South African government seems to be playing along with them, I am now faced with the dilemma of moving this fund out of South Africa for fear of going through the same experience in future because both countries have similar political history.

As a businessman, I am seeking for a partner who I have to entrust my future and that of my family in his hands, I must let you know that this transaction is risk free. If you accept to assist me and my family all I want you to do for me, is to make an arrangements with the security company to clear the consignment (funds) from their affiliate office here in the Netherlands as i have already given directives for the consignment to be brought to the Netherlands from South Africa. But before then all modalities will have to be put in place like change of ownership to the consignment and more importantly this money I intend to use for investment.

I have two options for you. Firstly you can choose to have certain percentage of the money for nominating your account for this transaction. Or you can go into partnership with me for a proper profitable investment in your country. Whichever  option you want, feel free to notify me. I have also mapped out 5% of this money for all kinds of expenses incured in the process of this transaction. If you do not prefer a partnership I am willing to give you 10% of the money while the remaining 85% will be for my investment in your country. Just found 2 faxes from Skyline Diplomatic Group on the machine.

They're asking for 12,530 Euros for Admin, Handling and Security charges.

This is an outrageous charge. Do you think they're trying to take advantage of us?

Presumably you paid the shipping charge from South Africa so I don't understand why their charges are so high just for a spot of warehousing.

They are also asking for an additional 165 Euros a day for daily storage. The bounders!

Are you aware of these demands?

Dear Major Owen,

I am aware of this, the total Admin, Handling and Security charges my father was given was 28,530 Euros and he paid 16,000 Euros remaining a balance of 12,530 Euros, if you check the Certificate of Deposit you will find stated there and as you know am under assylum and do not have  such money now.

Sir, I beg you in the name of God to try and raise this money and when you come we will go to the company together you will see everything for yourself then we make the payment and claim the consignment and i want you to note that this is my only hope in life and you are the one that will still invest this money for my family.

Well if you think it's OK I'll get the money and bring it to Amsterdam with me on Wednesday; presumably this will come out of the 5% you want to set aside for expenses?

I was  at the airport today as agreed but did'nt see you, the fligth number you gave was there but you were not seen hope there is no problem.

Sir, i took you as a father who wants to help a son and expected you to have called me since am in the asylum camp and don't always have access to phone, but you did'nt  and  all the time i try to call, your phone is always on fax.

Sir, i don't understand what is going on, you did'nt tell me if you have contacted the company up till now,  sir, i will like you to send me back the letter of authorization/ power of attorney i sent to you so i will be rest assured that you are not dealing with the company without my knowledge.

Have you ever considered changing your name? You really should you know.

With your record (father murdered, stuck in an asylum camp, going to the airport to meet people who don't exist) it's really inappropriate to continue with the name Lucky.

Maybe you should meet up with Simon Muzenda, Rubutu Neega, Moyo Uzuhi, Mudala Makakwe and Tamma Berdama who also lost their fathers (all of them, coincidentally "one of the most popular black farmers in Zimbabwe") in the same circumstances. I'm sure that your friends can come up with a better name for you - how about Nigerian 419 Scammer - now there's a name that would be suitable for you, but probably too much of a clue if you use it in your e-mails.

Amsterdam must be really a home from home for you nowadays - there are so many of you there sending out your heartfelt pleas. But in the interest of variety could you please come up with some more variations on your stories? It's so boring having to read the same e-mail from 5 or 6 different sources!
